Research Policy

The Research Policy outlines how research at UTS is conducted and managed. In support of the UTS Research Strategy, the policy establishes the research environment and culture in which UTS researchers work.

Research Management Procedures (PDF, staff only)

The Research Management Procedures set out how to manage research, including the development of research proposals and the management of research projects. The procedures should be read in conjunction with the Research Policy.

Research Finance Procedures (PDF, staff only)

The Research Finance Procedures set out how to develop and manage a funded research and/or consulting project. The procedures should be read in conjunction with the Research Policy and the Research Management Procedures.

Research Data Management Procedures (PDF)

The Research Data Management Procedures outline the mutual obligations of UTS and UTS researchers to ensure good data management practices in line with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. The procedures should be read in conjunction with the Research Policy.

Authorship Procedures (PDF)

The Authorship Procedures guide researchers on acceptable practice around the recognition of significant intellectual or scholarly contribution to a research output.

Defence Industry Security Program Procedures (PDF, staff only)

The Defence Industry Security Program Procedures outline how UTS complies with the requirements of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP).

Defence Trade Controls Compliance Procedures (PDF, staff only)

The Defence Trade Controls Compliance Procedures outline the university’s obligations under Australia’s export controls legislation. The procedures establish a framework to ensure UTS complies with the requirements of the Defence Trade Controls Act 2012 (Cwlth).

University Consulting Procedures (PDF, staff only)

The University Consulting Procedures support the Research Policy by outlining UTS's authorities and processes for:

  • approving university consulting
  • managing approved university consulting activities, and
  • managing non-compliance and risk to the university when undertaking university consulting activities.

US Public Health Service Financial Conflicts of Interest Disclosure Procedures (PDF)

These procedures set out the requirements for disclosing financial conflicts of interest for research projects funded by the United States Public Health Service, including those provided by the National Institutes of Health.
