This is the schedule for the election to fill academic staff positions on Academic Board.

The schedule specifies the term of office, electorate, dates for nominations and ballot, Returning Officer and election rules. It also includes the nomination form that should be used to nominate as a candidate in this election, and information about Academic Board.

Academic staff from faculties UTS Business School 1 position
Faculty of Design and Society 1 position
TD School 1 position
Academic staff from the professoriate and associate professoriate (levels D or E) 4 positions
Academic staff (levels A, B or C) 2 positions
Deputy dean, associate dean or head of school (or equivalent) 1 position

Term of office

Two years: 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027

Electorate

Academic staff from faculties Any academic staff member (continuing or fixed-term) from UTS Business School, Faculty of Design and Society and TD School can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote for their faculty position (Rule G3-22(1)(b)).
Academic staff from the professoriate and associate professoriate (levels D or E) Any academic staff member (continuing or fixed-term at levels D or E) can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote in this election (Rule G3-22(1)(h)).

Restrictions

No more than two from any one faculty or unit can be elected to sit on Academic Board from the professoriate and associate professoriate (levels D or E) (Rule G3-1(3)(b)). Given this restriction and the current Academic Board membership, only one candidate from UTS Business School, Faculty of Design and Society, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and Faculty of Law can be elected.
Academic staff (levels A, B or C) Any academic staff member (continuing or fixed-term at levels A, B or C) can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote in this election (Rule G3-22(1)(h)).

Restrictions

No more than two from any one faculty or unit can be elected to sit on Academic Board from the academic staff (levels A, B or C) (Rule G3-1(3)(c)). Given this restriction and the current Academic Board membership, no candidate from the Faculty of Design and Society can be elected.
Deputy dean, associate dean or head of school (or equivalent) Any academic staff member with the title of deputy dean, associate dean or head of school (or equivalent) can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote in this election (Rule G3-22(1)(h)).

Ballot

  • Open Tuesday 9 September 2025
  • Close at 3pm Tuesday 23 September 2025

A ballot is required if more valid nominations are received than positions vacant. Ballots will take place in UTS: Elections Online Polling Booth.

The names of candidates and candidate statements will be made available in voting before the ballot opens.

Conduct

Participants in elections (candidates, their representatives and voters) are expected to follow the same high standard of conduct and behaviour during the campaign process as is expected on campus generally. The behaviour of election candidates and their representatives should meet expected standards of conduct. See Code of Conduct for UTS Elections.

Results

The results of these elections will be made available in results around 2 weeks after close of voting, following the declaration of poll by the Returning Officer (Rule G3-36(3) and (4)).

About Academic Board

Terms of reference Refer Rule G3, Part 1.
Number of meetings Academic Board meets at least 6 times per year.
Composition Academic Board consists of ex officio members and elected members. For more information, see Academic Board: Membership.
Membership term The length of Academic Board membership will be 2 years for staff and 1 year for students.
