Schedule: Courses Accreditation Committee — election of Chair

This is the schedule for the election to fill Chair position on Courses Accreditation Committee.

The schedule specifies the term of office, electorate, dates for nominations and ballots, Returning Officer and election rules. It also includes the nomination form that should be used to nominate as a candidate in this election, and information about Courses Accreditation Committee.

For the election of

Chair of Courses Accreditation Committee 1 position

Term of office

Two years: 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026

Electorate

A candidate for the Chair of Courses Accreditation Committee must be a staff member who has curricula experience AND fulfills Category 1 or Category 2 requirements.

Category 1: 

  • is a staff member who holds the title of deputy dean, associate dean or head of school (or equivalent).

Only members of the 2025 Academic Board are eligible to nominate candidates in Category 1. A list of the 2025 Academic Board members can be found here.

OR

Category 2:

  • is a staff member who does not hold any of the positions in Category 1 and is co-nominated (see note below) by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) and the current Chair, Courses Accreditation Committee.

Note that in the event the Chair, Courses Accreditation Committee is seeking renomination or is from the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) or a related division or portfolio, the co-nomination will be from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) and the Provost.

Curricula experience is defined as expertise as a leader at a school or faculty level in curricula, course/program areas and/or course accreditations.

Ballots

A ballot is required if more valid nominations are received than positions vacant. Ballots will take place in UTS: Elections Online Polling Booth.

The names of candidates and candidate statements will be made available in voting before the ballot opens.

Conduct

Participants in elections (candidates, their representatives and voters) are expected to follow the same high standard of conduct and behaviour during the campaign process as is expected on campus generally. The behaviour of election candidates and their representatives should meet expected standards of conduct. See Code of Conduct for UTS Elections.

Results

The results of these elections will be made available in results around two weeks after close of voting, following the declaration of poll by the Returning Officer (Rule G3-36(3) and (4)).

About Courses Accreditation Committee

Terms of reference Refer Courses Accreditation Committee.
Number of meetings The committee has 12 scheduled meetings per year.
Composition The committee consists of ex officio members, nominated members, elected staff members and elected student members.
Membership The length of committee membership will be 2 years for staff and 1 year for students.
