This is the schedule for the election to fill student positions on Faculty Board in Business.

The schedule specifies the term of office, electorate, dates for nominations and ballot, Returning Officer and election rules. It also includes the nomination form that should be used to nominate as a candidate in this election, and information about faculty boards.

Term of office

One year: 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026

Electorate

Undergraduate students Any student enrolled in an undergraduate course (listed in the UTS register of award courses, with a minimum one year full-time or equivalent duration) can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote for undergraduate student positions within their faculty and (where specified) their discipline/program (Rule G3-22(1)(e)).
Postgraduate students Any student enrolled in a postgraduate coursework or research course (listed in the UTS register of award courses, with a minimum one year full-time or equivalent duration) can stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote for the postgraduate student positions within their faculty and (where specified) their discipline/program (Rule G3-22(1)(f)).

Restrictions

Students (undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate research students) who are also members of academic or professional staff of the university (continuing or fixed-term) are not entitled to stand as candidates, nominate candidates or vote in this election (Rule G3-22(2)).

Students undertaking a double degree are only eligible to stand as a candidate, nominate candidates and vote for candidates within their home faculty (except for TD School students, see the TD School Board schedule for more information).

Ballot

A ballot is required if more valid nominations are received than positions vacant. Ballots will take place in UTS: Elections Online Polling Booth.

The names of candidates and candidate statements will be made available in voting before the ballot opens.

Conduct

Participants in elections (candidates, their representatives and voters) are expected to follow the same high standard of conduct and behaviour during the campaign process as is expected on campus generally. The behaviour of election candidates and their representatives should meet expected standards of conduct. See Code of Conduct for UTS Elections.

Results

The results of these elections will be made available in results around 2 weeks after close of voting, following the declaration of poll by the Returning Officer (Rule G3-36(3) and (4)).

About faculty boards

Terms of reference Each faculty of the university has a faculty board. The faculty board constitutes the primary forum in the faculty for the discussion and resolution of academic issues and matters. For more information, see Standing Orders for Faculty Boards.
Number of meetings The faculty board meets at least 4 times each calendar year and at such other times as the faculty board determines.
Composition The faculty board consists of ex officio members, nominated members, elected staff members and elected student members.
Membership The length of faculty board membership will be 2 years for staff and 1 year for students.
